YOUTOP Pushes Compact Backhoe Loaders as a One-Machine Answer to Mixed Site Work

Subhead: The Shandong-based manufacturer is pitching its 3.2- to 7-tonne backhoe loader range at municipal contractors, rental fleets and farm operators who need digging and loading from a single carrier.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

QINGZHOU, Shandong, China — October 19, 2026 — Shandong Youtop Machinery Co., Ltd. is positioning its small backhoe loader range as a single-machine alternative for contractors who would otherwise mobilise a mini excavator and a wheel loader separately.

The range spans three core models — the 3,200 kg YT08-25, the 5,500 kg YT35-26 and the 7,050 kg YT40-30 — each combining a front loader bucket with a rear backhoe on one carrier. According to the company, the design target was not maximum size but the ability to keep working across several job types in a single day: trenching, loading spoil, lifting pallets, backfilling and cleaning up site access roads.

More power in a smaller footprint

The compact end of the range, the YT08-25, runs a Yunnei YN25GB engine rated at 37 kW and weighs 3,200 kg. It digs to 2,300 mm with a 0.1 m³ backhoe bucket, swings through 180 degrees, and carries a 0.6 m³ front bucket. Articulated steering gives it a 4,500 mm turning radius, which the company says suits narrow urban plots, greenhouse and orchard work, and utility repairs where a larger machine cannot enter.

The mid-range YT35-26 steps up to a 58 kW Yunnei YN27GBZ, a 3,200 mm digging depth and a 0.8–1.0 m³ loader bucket rated for 1,500 kg. The largest of the three, the YT40-30, uses a 76 kW YN38GBZ engine and delivers 38.4 kN of lifting force and 36.9 kN of bucket digging force, with a 3,500 mm dig depth, a loader bucket of up to 1.1 m³ and a rated load of 2,000 kg.

All three use a 63 L/min hydraulic system working at 16–21 MPa, and all are four-wheel drive with four forward and four reverse gears — two plus two on the YT08-25. Travel speeds run from 25 km/h on the compact model to 38–40 km/h on the larger two, which lets operators road the machine between nearby sites instead of loading it onto a trailer.

Built for repeat work, not one-off jobs

Durability claims in this segment are usually marketing. Youtop's are tied to specific build decisions: a box-section main frame, hydraulic pilot joysticks rather than cable linkage, hydraulic locking on the stabiliser legs, and a cab that tilts forward hydraulically for service access to the pump and engine compartment. Each model also carries a reversing camera, air conditioning, an adjustable swivel seat and a two-way driving system that allows the machine to be operated in either direction — useful when the loader end is the working end on a narrow site.

Wear parts are conventional and widely stocked: 16/70-20 tyres on the YT40-30, 20.5/70-16 on the YT35-26, and 23.5/70-16 on the YT08-25, with a 310 mm ground clearance on the two larger machines and 220 mm on the compact.

Fuel and emissions

The 76 kW YN38GBZ in the YT40-30 is the largest engine in the range and the one most exposed to fuel cost on high-hour contracts. Youtop says the engine and hydraulic system were matched so that flow demand tracks engine output rather than running at fixed displacement, and each machine carries an electronic hand throttle for setting working rpm precisely instead of relying on pedal position. The company states that engines are supplied in the emissions configuration required by the destination market.

Note to editors: the specific emission standard (Stage V / EPA Tier 4 Final / other) should be confirmed with Youtop before this section is published.

Attachments: the one-machine argument

The commercial case for a backhoe loader rests on what bolts onto it. According to the company, the machines can be configured with a range of attachments beyond the standard loader and backhoe buckets — including hydraulic breakers, earth augers, pallet forks and grading or scarifier tools — so that one carrier covers demolition, fence and post work, material handling and site finishing.

For rental fleets the arithmetic is straightforward: one machine that can be re-equipped for the next customer's job instead of three machines sitting idle. For municipal and utility contractors it means one operator, one transport move and one maintenance schedule across a week of varied work.

Where the range fits

Youtop lists the primary applications as municipal road maintenance, water and sewer trenching, rural and farm road construction, landscaping, small building sites, greenhouse and orchard work, and utility repair. The company also builds excavators, skid steer loaders, crawler dumpers, wheel loaders, telehandlers, lawn mowers and crawler spider cranes, and says it undertakes custom and non-standard builds for export customers.

"Buyers in this class are not shopping for the biggest machine on the lot. They are shopping for the machine that finishes the most jobs before it goes back on the trailer. That is why we kept three sizes close together and put the attachment interface at the centre of the design rather than treating it as an option." — Youtop spokesperson (suggested quote — confirm attribution and wording with the company before release)
